Eco-Print Workshop: Fresh Flowers on SOCKS @ The People's Apothecary
In this natural dye eco-printing class, you'll learn how to create crisp and vibrant one-of-a-kind prints on a pair of crew socks using fresh dye flowers grown in my garden. Through the process of intuitive design and steaming, you'll extract natural colors and detailed patterns from the flowers, creating beautiful, wearable art. This hands-on workshop is a perfect way to connect with nature, explore sustainable dyeing methods, and create your very own floral socks to wear all year. All materials provided and no experience is needed. Snacks and beverages will be provided as I love to bake and cook for the class!
Class Flow: We will discuss dye flowers, mordants and layout ideas for the first 20 minutes, then once the workshop portion begins, you will get access to bouquets of just-picked summer florals and ample time to lay them out on your socks while your creativity churns and discussions course through the beautiful Apothecary. Every flower is specifically grown for natural dyeing to promote long lasting, bright colors — which means you can’t go wrong! Steam time takes approximately 20 minutes, then we head outside to reveal our creations together!
