Free People Maxi Dress

I bought this lovely 100% cotton white dress from a friend and dyed it with Cutch Bark to achieve a burnt cinnamon red color. This dress is lightweight, flowy, buttons in the front and slightly longer in the back with high side slits. It could even be worn as a light outer layer jacket if left unbuttoned. The sleeves are puffy bishop style with delicate thread detail all over. This is the first dress I was able to finally achieve a brick red color on using Cutch combined with various pH modifiers (Cutch usually gives a toffee brown) It took over a year of testing to figure out how to make it. It’s stunningly deep, rich and colorfast for a natural dye which makes this piece extra special.
